Phillena ROUSE

Phillena Rouse became Mrs Samuel Piche on July 18, 1899, when their marriage ceremony took place in St. Brunos church in Nadeau, Michigan. She was 18 years old at the time.
She was born in Wallace, Michigan, but lived during her early years in the Bay Settlement area, some 8 miles N/E of Green Bay.
Phillena and Samuel gave birth to fourteen children, 12 of whom she raised to adulthood.
She suffered heartbreak during her life with the loss of her two little daughters, and later the loss of her 26 year old daughter Edna, five years after Edna's infant child and husband Wilfred Perron died within days of each other.
She was proud of her children though, and her life sparkled when they came to visit, which was often, and usually in large groups that resembled small family reunions.
Over the years the numbers of her grandchildren grew to many, but despite this she always remembered their names, ages, and which parents they belonged with.
In the time period before Samuel became ill she attended to his many needs and gave him all the comfort and care that she could.
She was loved and respected by all her children, and all the extended Piche family members, as well as the members of her church, friends, and neighbors throughout the community of Nadeau.
