Obituary of Doraine "Dode" Rockwell:
Dode Rockwell, 88 years, of Sturgeon Bay, was called home (July 26, 2012) while residing at Century Ridge CBRF in Green Bay. She was born October 2, 1923 in Menomonee County, Michigan the daughter of the late Benjamin and Ida (Champeau) Braley. After graduation from Sevastopol High School she worked for Atty. Herman Leasum, and later for Roger Pinkert at the Pinkert Law Firm retiring in 1981. On October 18, 1947 she married Leo J. Rockwell at the Corpus Christi Parish Rectory. Leo died unexpectedly in Florida during their annual winter stay on March 31, 2005. They had loved the many winters spent in Florida during their retirement. Dode was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to play cards and read. Her children remember and value the many camping trips and vacations that were taken around the country, and how much she loved being with her family. She was a sweet, appreciative woman who loved much and was loved by all who knew her. Survivors include her three children, Joe (Linda) of Sturgeon Bay, Nancy (David) Rusch of Manitowoc, Roger (Connie) of Sturgeon Bay; seven grandchildren, Eric (Molly) Rockwell, Jason Rockwell, Paulette Madden (and special friend, Todd), Dan (Sarah) Matthews, Misty (Mike) Mrotek, Philip (Diane) Rockwell, Christopher (Alison) Rockwell; 16 great-grandchildren; seven sisters-in-law, Olive Braley, Mae Haase, Marion Ash, Ruthie Smith, Joan Krueger, Dorothy (Jim) Kintopf, Pat Rockwell; many dear nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband, Leo (2005); parents; son-in-law, Frank Copus; great-grandson, Cody Sprang; three brothers, Ben (Leone) Braley, Verlin Braley, Myron Hap (Wanda) Braley; two sisters, Mildred (Al) Shampo, Hazel (Marvin) LaCrosse; six brothers-in-law, Al Ash, Walter Haase, Owen Krueger, Roy (Edna, Janice) Rockwell, Jack Rockwell and Gene Rockwell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Robert Konkol OFM officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday (July 29, 2012) at Huehns Funeral Home and at the church on Monday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11:30 a.m. A Christian Mothers Rosary will be prayed at 3:45 p.m Sunday, and a parish wake will be at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday evening at Huehns Funeral Home. Memorials may be made in her memory to St. John Bosco Catholic School in Sturgeon Bay.
