Arrived in Québec in 1635, not 1634, as some historians claim.

Died between 20 May 1662 and the census of 1666. May have perished in a fire which destroyed his home. The fire is referred to in a letter by his daughter, Madeleine in 1668, but no date is given for the fire, and no burial records for either Gaspard or Nicole have been found.
