Timothy Hopkins, in "The Kelloggs in the Old World and the New," writes:
"He was in Deerfield 6 June, 1693, when the town was attacked by the Indians; he escaped and alarmed the town. He was one of the largest taxpayers in Hadley; Lieutenant in the militia; selectman of Hadley, 1717, '21, '24, '27, '37. He rem. to the Third Precinct of Hadley (now Amherst), and was one of the original members of the church there, 7 Nov., 1739."
