Individual Details

Joseph Amie LEBLANC

(Oct 1871 - )

Usually called Amie Leblanc; sometimes Annie LeBlanc or J.A. LeBlanc. Surname variants: LEBLANC, LABLANC, or WHITE.

Marriage record states that he is a merchant, residing at 1021 Church Street, Marinette. Born in Carlelvir (? -- difficult to read), Québec; son of Annie LeBlanc and Catherine LaBellvis.

I had confused him at one point with "Amas Lablanc", who is shown on the 1900 census to be living in Menominee City, with his wife, Mary, and three children. This Amie (or Amas) LeBlanc was born April 1871 in Michigan, and the couple was married in the same year as our Joseph Amie LeBlanc and Mary Olivine ("Libby") Bush. I have since located the correct couple, within that same census, in Spaulding, where he is listed as a dry goods merchant. The information for this latter couple, while similar, more closely matches what I know about them from contemporary newspaper articles in the Menominee county Journal. As of 1900, they had no children. The link for the other census record (the wrong one) is here, for comparison: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-267-11105-59323-55?cc=1325221
