Notes
Birth
Age 29 in 1880. Also matches year on her gravestone.Census (family)
Enumerated with this family are Frank Deuster, a grist miller, age 29; his wife, Barbara Deuster, age 29; and children: Joseph, age 7; Elizabeth, age 6; Mathilde, age 3; and John, age one month (born in March). Also Frank's brother, Jacob Deuster, age 24, who worked in the grist mill (this would be James L. Deuster). Anna Lang, age 23, is described as a servant. A sister of Barbara's? Two boarders, Nick Cinz, age 17, and Henry Hemphner, age 27, also work in the grist mill.http://interactive.ancestry.com/6742/4244703-00587?backurl=http%3a%2f%2fsearch.ancestry.com%2fsearch%2fdb.aspx%3fdbid%3d6742%26path%3d&ssrc=&backlabel=ReturnBrowsing#?imageId=4244703-00593
Census
Listed with this family are the following:-- Barbara Duyster, age 49, born Feb 1851, widowed
-- Matilda Duyster, age 23 (corrected to 22), born June 1877
-- John Duyster, age 20, born Mar 1880
-- Mary Duyster, age 17 (corrected to 16), born June 1883
It is stated here that Barbara was the mother of eight children, three of whom were still living. I wonder if the latter part is true. This enumerator made quite a few procedural errors, many of which were later corrected in pencil. I wonder if the second part of the question was interpreted as "How many do you still have at home?" I do know that at least two had died by this time, and that at least two were married.
