(8 Jun 1886 - 19 Feb 1928)
Wedding announcement, transcribed from the Menominee County Journal, 29 June 1907:
Alex Nerbun and Miss Vina Raboin were married at the R.C. Church in Stephenson Wednesday morning. A wedding dinner and supper were served at the home of the bride’s parents, a large number of the relatives and friends of the young couple being present. Mr. and Mrs. Nerbun will make their home at Talbot.
Alex's WWI Draft Registration card indicates that he had, at some time, had five of his toes cut off.
Richard Swymeler sent the following article, which gives the account of Alex's death:
-- Deputy Sheriff Killed in Auto Train Collision - Ironwood Daily Globe; Volume 9 #78 P1, Col 4, Menominee, Mich, Feb 20, 1928. - Alex Nerbun, 39, Menominee County deputy sheriff was killed near his home at Dagget Mich., early Sunday morning when an automobile driven by Aubrey Johnson, aged 21, of Daggett, crashed into a freight train on the Chicago and Northwestern road. The freight train was on a siding awaiting a passenger train. Johnson who escaped with minor cuts bruises and broken nose said the windows of his sedan were frosted and he did not see the train on the crossing. Nerbun's body was recovered from the wreckage after the freight engine came out on the main line and with a case attached to the automobile pulled it from beneath the freight car it had wrecked. The deputy sheriff who had been on duty at a dance in Banat, Mich., is survived by a widow and four children.
