Notes
Marriage
This marriage must not have been successful or long-lived, because on every subsequent record I have seen, Edgar is listed as single (not widowed or even divorced).Divorce
Another brief clipping on this page states that the divorce was granted as a result of incompatibility of temper.Military
Enlisted on 5 August 1908 at Fort William Henry Harrison in Lewis and Clark County, Montana. He signed up for a period of three years. At the time of his enlistment, he was 23 years and 3 months old, born in Stevenson (sic), Michigan. His occupation is listed as musician, and the 1910 Census seems to show that he was part of the military band at Fort Leavenworth. He was discharged in August 1911 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.http://interactive.ancestry.com/1198/MIUSA1798_102922-00005?backurl=http%3a%2f%2fsearch.ancestry.com%2fsearch%2fdb.aspx%3fdbid%3d1198%26path%3d&ssrc=&backlabel=ReturnBrowsing#?imageId=MIUSA1798_102922-00119
Census
Edgar J. H. Bush, age 25, was a soldier at Fort Leavenworth Military Reservation. He lived in the band barracks, and since he was described as a musician at the time of his enlistment, it's safe to conclude that he was a member of the fort's military band.http://interactive.ancestry.com/7884/31111_4328339-00799?backurl=http%3a%2f%2fsearch.ancestry.com%2fsearch%2fdb.aspx%3fdbid%3d7884%26path%3d&ssrc=&backlabel=ReturnBrowsing#?imageId=31111_4328339-00831
Census
1920 Census: Enumerated with this family were Louise Bush, age 52, a widow; and her son, Edgar J. H. Bush, age 34. Edgar's occupation is very difficult to read here, but he was an assistant pharmacist. Also listed in the 1920 Plattsburgh City Directory, page 71, image 40. He was described as a clerk, working at 86 Margaret St., and the street breakdown (page 211, image 112) shows that the business at this address was W. B. Jaques Drug Co. *** 1920 was the first year that Edgar was listed in the Plattsburgh city Directory.
