Individual Details
André JARRET dit BEAUREGARD
( - 1691)
JARRET de BEAUREGARD (Sieur de Beauregard). Spelling variations: JARED, JARET, JARRET, JARRED
Jetté states that François Jarret de Verchères was probably the parent of André Jarret, spouse of Marguerite Anthiaume (and my ancestor)! The standard version is that André was the half brother of François, not his son. I have wondered if André was illegitimate, but I hadn`t questioned the fact that his parents were Jean Jarret and Perrette Sermette. I need to look into this possibility more closely!

Full name of birthplace: Rual de Chapeaucornu, commune of Vignieu, province of Dauphine (present-day department of Isere), France.
Sources frequently cited for this family: René Jetté, "Dictionnaire généalogique des Familles du Québec" (Montreal: University of Montreal Press, 1983) and Cyprien TANGUAY, "Dictionnaire généalogique des Familles canadiènnes," 7 volumes (New York: AMS Press, 1969 -- originally published in Québec in 1871 and 1886).
LDS ordinance data for this couple and their children from March 1992 IGI (This individual's birthyear given incorrectly as 1644).
Leg #V64
Killed by the Iroquois in 1691. His youngest child, Vincent, was born the following January. His wife is referred to as a widow by 22 Sep 1691.
Arrived in Québec on 17 August 1665, with the Carignan Regiment -- see below.
Carignan Regiment -- Lieutenant in the company of Contrecoeur.
Granted the concession of the three Iles Beauregard (near Vercheres) on 17 August 1674. Drouin: "En 1674, Frontenac lui conceda `les ilots du St-Laurent dont l'un est proche de l'ile Longue appartenant au sieur de Vercheres, son frere.'"
Marriage contract notarized on same day as wedding ceremony, by Basset.
Half-brother of François JARED, sieur de VERCHERES (son of Jean JARED and Claude de PECAUDY). François was also an officer (ensign) in the same Carignan company as André. François's daughter, Madeleine, came to be known as the Joan of Arc of New France.
Biographical sketch in Drouin, Volume III. Includes coat of arms (questionable authenticity).
