Rufus was ten years old and living in a Catholic orphanage.Death
Rufus was shot when entering a saloon. The article from the Manitowoc Herald-Times, dated 1 May 1930, states that the killing had taken place two months earlier. Walter Basten, owner of the saloon, was on trial for the murder.Endnotes
