Cecelia M. LAPLANT

Cecelia M. Peterson, 97, of Marinette, passed away Saturday morning, April 4, 2015, at Bay Area Medical Center. She was born August 22, 1917, in Walsh, to Arthur and Cecelia LaPlant.
Cecelia spent her early life on the family farm and lived in Marinette after her marriage to Olaf H. Peterson on April 5, 1945. She devoted most of her time to raising her family and enjoyed numerous crafts, especially sewing and crocheting. She was also dedicated to physical activity and was an avid pool user, first at the YMCA and later at River Cities Community Pool in Marinette. As its oldest member, Cecelia had been an active member until recently and had continued to support its special activities. She resided at Northland Village for over 20 years and loved living there. She was a member of Holy Family Parish.
Cecelia is survived by her children: Doris (John) LaCourt of Marinette, WI; Marie Peterson of Illinois; Gayle (Lloyd) Gomez of Marinette, WI; Karla (Gary) Posselt of West Virginia; Peter (Denise) of Louisiana; Celeste (Tim) Hammon of California; Paul (Marcie) of Virginia; Dean (Kathy) of Milwaukee, WI and Lloyd of Florida; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Joyce Johnson of Menominee, MI and Dorothy Murphy of Campbellsport, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Olaf, on July 8, 1977; a daughter, Julie; and a brother, Francis LaPlant.
A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held at a time to be announced later. She will be buried alongside her husband at Woodlawn Cemetery in Marinette.
