Lafayette Redmond ROSE
(May 1865 - 23 Oct 1901)
Death announcement and bio, from Find-a-Grave memorial #115292210:
Charlie Houck was over from Preston Tuesday and informed us of the death of Lafayette Rose at Watertown, SD last Sunday. It seems that Friday, Mr. Rose who lived at Grover, SD was in Watertown on business and that the barn in which he had his team caught on fire. Wrapping a coat around his head he entered the burning building to save his horses and was overcome by the smoke but was finally rescued by the firemen. It is with sincere sorrow that we are obliged to chronicle the death of our old friend Lafe.
