Edward Joseph HINSON Sr
(3 Dec 1927 - 28 Aug 2012)
A true gentleman, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and special friend to many begins a new journey.
Edward Joseph Hinson Sr. passed away on Aug. 28, 2012, at home. He was born to Charles and Josephine (Zelenka) Hinson on Dec. 3, 1927, in Unionville. He was greatly loved and raised by his special stepfather, Walter Pelica, after losing his father at a very young age. He attended Akron High School and graduated in 1946. He married the former Betty Jean Bilow on Feb. 26, 1949, and together they celebrated 55 years of marriage prior to her passing in 2004.
Edward was employed at Eaton Corp. in Vassar, Mahar Motors, East End Garage, Allstate Insurance and Dirk Waltz Buick prior to establishing Hinson Frame & Collision in 1976. An avid hunter and fisherman, Ed's greatest joys were his family, farming and raising Shorthorn cattle.
Edward is survived by his children, Edward (Anne) Hinson Jr., Scott (Cindy) Hinson, Mark (Jonnie) Hinson, Rachel Anne Hinson, and Penny (David) Demski- 11 grandchildren, Staci (Josh) Berenyi, Jamie (Curt) Moses, April (Allen) Smith, Jennifer (Clint) Shephard, Bridget (Jason) Hafelein, Mellisa (Dion Slabic) Dickerson, Edward (Shawna) Hinson III, Joshua Demski, Troy (Sonja) Hinson, Meggan Hinson and Renee' Sprague- 18 great-grandchildren, Katelynn, Scott, Tyler, Joey, Nicholas, Alex, Ella, Azaria, Asher, Ryan, Garrett, Claudia, Blake, Jordi, Abel, Aiden and Brooklynn- and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Edward is survived by his sisters-in-law, Rachel Cornell, Pearl Smith, Jeanette (Don) Bloomfield, and Jean Bilow. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his stepbrother and sister-in-law, Ted and Doris Pelica; brothers-in-law, Clarence "Chip" (Delores) Bilow, Merle Bilow, Burton Smith, Don Cornell, Harold (Lillian) Bilow, Robert (Dorothy) Bilow; and sister-in-law, Lucille Bilow.
God saw that he was getting tired and a cure was not to be, so He put His arms around him, and whispered "Come with Me." With cheerful eyes we shared his life and saw him fade away. Although we loved him dearly we could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.
The funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 11 a.m., today, Sept. 1, 2012, from Assumption BVM Catholic Church. Fr. Kevin Maksym will officiate, with burial to follow in New Calvary Cemetery. Edward's family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until time of mass.
Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Midland County 4-H or Assumption BVM Catholic Church.
