Sornes Arstal LAVEAU

Wasilla resident Sornes ''Bob'' LaVeau, 71, died Sept. 8, 1999, at home. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Bogard Road in Wasilla. The Rev. Stanley J. Allie officiated. A visitation and Rosary was held at Kehl's Palmer Mortuary Chapel. Burial with military honors was after the Mass on Wednesday at Fort Richardson National Cemetery. A reception followed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Mr. LaVeau was born March 25, 1928, in Little Lake, Mich., to Peter and Delia M. (BeBeau) LaVeau. He served in the U.S. Army from Nov. 28, 1950, through Nov. 28, 1955. Mr. LaVeau came to Wasilla on April 3, 1993. He was a very active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wasilla and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He volunteered at the Wasilla Food Bank and did Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets for the church. Mr. LaVeau also volunteered at Bishop's Attic. He had two favorite hobbies and they were working with wood and working on cars. His family said, ''Bob was a very unselfish man.'' He always had time for everyone who knew him, his family added.
Mr. LaVeau is survived by his sisters, Isabelle Maki of Wisconsin, Ann McCowan and Betty Mikus of Michigan, and Joyce York of Connecticut; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Kitchen Fund, 1201 E. Bogard Road, Wasilla 99654. Arrangements were made by Kehl's Palmer Mortuary.
