Durrell Mitchell BALTHAZOR

From Korean War veterans Honor Roll:
Private Balthazor was a rifleman with the 3rd Squad, 3rd Platoon, Company C, 1st Battalion, 224th Infantry Regiment, 40th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action while in his foxhole defending his position at "Sandbag Castle" located between "Heartbreak Ridge" and the "Punchbowl" in North Korea at 9:40 p.m. on November 3, 1952. An enemy 82mm mortar exploded next to him, killing him instantly. Private Balthazor was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean War Service Medal.
