BILLY dit ST-LOUIS. Usually called simply "Joseph," dropping the Louis.
Parentage info from notarial records of Élie-François Rigaud, in "Inventaire
des greffes des notaires du regime francais: Presse, H., 1736-1746 and Rigaud,
E.F., 1750-1778" (comp. Jules Martel; Trois Rivieres): 60. Record 400
describes a division and distribution of the land of Guillaume Billy, of
Riviere-du-Loup, and his wife, Magdeleine Normandin, to their children. The
very next record, #401, contains a relinquishment by Joseph Billy-St-Louis and
his wife, Angélique Desdielle-Labreche, of the land which they had received
from his parents, to his brothers and sisters. Both records are dated 26 July
1758. The index to this volume also refers to Joseph as the son of Guillaume
Billy and Magdeleine Normandin. This research was done by Mary Dunsirn, 218
