Individual Details

Elmer Joseph LANDRY

(19 Apr 1909 - 15 May 1997)

Although it seems improbable that there would be two sons named Elmer in this family, born less than two years apart, the records clearly show this to be true. Birth, marriage, and death records all show that the two Elmers were in fact separate individuals, and were born to the same parents. According to the 1910 and 1920 Censuses, it seems that while they were living with their parents, the older son was called Almand or Elmond, while the younger one was called Elmer. As adults, it seems that they were both called Elmer. This strange situation, coupled with the many spelling variations of their surname, made these brothers a challenge to research.
