Samuel PICHE

(26 Mar 1872 - Aug 1955)

Biography, from Find-A-Grave memorial #55589720, created by L. A. Tousignant:
Samuel Piche, at age 13, arrived in Nadeau, Michigan from Ste. Lucie, Quebec, Canada in early 1886. Along with his parents, Thomas and Julia Piche, and seven brothers and sisters, they were determined to make a new home for themselves, learn a new language, and become valued residents to their newly adopted community. In all respects he was successful.
On July 18, 1899, in St. Brunos Catholic church in Nadeau, he was married to Phillena Rouse, and together they gave birth to fourteen children. Samuel and Phillena raised 12 of these children to adulthood, largely through their perseverance, hard work, and love of God.
One child died in infancy and the other at four years of age.
Samuel learned the english language and insisted that only English be spoken by all in his family. In later years, however, and as his health began to fail, he had a tendency to revert back to the language of his youth.
He was well respected throughout the Nadeau community, as well as by all his children, and the extended members of his family. To all that knew him, he was a true gentleman.
