Thelma V. Grant, 93, of Midland, died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011. The daughter of the late John and Olena (Jacobson) Ask was born in Suttons Bay on April 12, 1918. Thelma attended Suttons Bay Public Schools and graduated from St. Mary's High School in Lake Leelanau. On Oct. 4, 1938, she married Lawrence Mark Grant, and moved to Muskegon in 1941. Thelma worked for Hackley Hospital, retiring in 1980 with 16 years of service. She moved to Midland in 1990 and was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
Thelma is survived by her daughter, Marlene Grant of Midland; and numerous nephews and nieces. Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Grant, who died April 29, 1964; five brothers; six sisters; two half brothers; and two half sisters.
The funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 21, 2011, from Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Father Peter J. Gaspeny will officiate, with the Rite of Committal in St. Mary's Cemetery, Muskegon. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of mass. Memorials may be offered to the donor's choice.
