Henry George HANSEN

STEVENS POINT - Henry G. Hansen, age 84, of Stevens Point, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, at Whispering Pines in Plover, Wis. Henry was born March 22, 1916, in Sturgeon Bay, to the late Henry and Ruth (Anderson) Hansen. He grew up and graduated from high school there. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and St. Norbert College in DePere.
He married Myra C. Deschane Oct. 16, 1939, in Green Bay. She preceded him in death Feb. 10, 1998. They moved to Stevens Point in 1953. Henry worked at Hercules Powder Plant in Baraboo several years and then joined Sentry Insurance in 1949. He retired from Sentry as claims department manager in 1976.
Henry loved hunting, fishing, learning music, books and life. In his later years, he continued his quest for knowledge by working on his computer and sharing what he learned with family and friends. He instilled love and pride of family in his children and grandchildren that will be his legacy.
Henry is survived by a son, Steve (Sue) Hansen of Waunakee; a daughter, Linda (Jay) Cook of Plover; five grandchildren, Matthew Schwetz, Megan Schwetz, Chris (special friend, Nadya Nahimniak) Hansen, Kjersten "K.J." (Erik) Busse and Steve Cook; and a very special great-grandson, Paul Stephen Busse, who came into his great-grandpa's life on Thursday, July 3, 2003. He is also survived by a brother, Dr. Arthur (Nancy) Hansen of Fort Myers, Fla.; a son-in-law, Dr. Gerald Fuller, Lake Orion, Mich.; two nieces; and three nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Fuller.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2003, at GOOD SHEPHERD LUTHERAN CHURCH in Plover with the Rev. Al Moen officiating. Friends may call at BOSTON FUNERAL HOME, Stevens Point, on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Burial will take place later at Bayside Cemetery in Sturgeon Bay.
