Dorothy Anna LAPLANT

Dorothy Anna Mosgaller, 91, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away at Bellin Memorial Hospital on November 18, 2012. She was born February 27, 1921, in Door County to John and Anna (Copiskey) LaPlant. She graduated from Sevastopol High School and attended business college for a number of years. On November 4, 1944, she married William L. Mosgaller in Jacksonport; he preceded her in death on July 20, 1988.
Dorothy was very active in the community during her lifetime. She served on the Sturgeon Bay School Board, the Sturgeon Bay City Council and on the Door County Board of Supervisors. She was also very active in the Door County Senior Citizens Club. Dorothy was passionate about politics and was a long time member of the Door County Democratic Party. She was the founder and manager of Bay View Terrace in Sturgeon Bay and Forestville for many years.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Lee (Valerie) Mosgaller, Sturgeon Bay; three granddaughters, Julie (Peter) Erickson, Pewaukee; Jill Mosgaller (special friend, Brett Behrendt), Milwaukee; Jackie Mosgaller, Sturgeon Bay; two great-grandchildren, Matthias and Dominic Erickson; a brother-in-law, Frank Mosgaller and sister-in-law, Theresa (George) Thiel. She was preceded in death by her husband and seven siblings, Fabian, Elsie, Art, August, George, William and Grace.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m.Friday, November 23, 2012, at Corpus Christi Church, the Rev. Carl Schmitt officiating. Entombment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Forbes Funeral Home and then after 10:00 a.m. Friday at the church until time of services. Memorials may be directed to the Door County Humane Society in her memory.
