Another obituary of Verna:

Verna Coyle Grandys, 86, died peacefully in Littleton, Colorado Feb 25, 2009. Born Veronica Coyle in Hammond Indiana to Lucy Champeau (French Canadian) and Edward Coyle (Irish). The family moved to Calumet City, Illinois where Verna (name she went by) lived until she married in 1948. Verna grew up with 2 brothers. The Catholic Church played an important part in Verna's life as she went to St Victor's School and Church. She graduated from T.F. North High School in 1940 and had a good friend Florence who was just like sister. After graduation she went to work at a doctor's office and then Lever Brothers Dept Store in Whiting, Indiana where she met Joseph Grandy's. Verna loved to dance, and listen to big band music. In April 1948 Verna married Joseph at St Stanislaus Church. They honeymooned in New York City. And in 1949 their first child was born. They had a total of four girls and one boy. In April of 1970 Joseph died leaving Verna with children ages 20 through 12. Verna never remarried, and she loved to tease saying, "no money-no honey". Verna was very outgoing and loved activities around people, had a great sense of humor. There were many a stories around playing cards, traveling (especially to Las Vegas Nevada), being active in politics, reading "trashy magazines", and hearing from friends. A Remember When™ movie was made to capture some of those special times in Verna's life and pass her legacy to her children, grand children and great grandchildren. Verna was loved and will be missed.
