Elizabeth "Bette" J. (Champeau) Shandor, 79, Green Bay, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006. She was born June 11, 1927, in Kohler, Wis., to LeRoy and Mae (Burns) Champeau. Bette enjoyed working at several restaurants and supper clubs until she owned and operated her own businesses in the Green Bay area. She was always a people person and made many close friends in her successful business ventures. Bette was an award winning cook.
She is survived by six children and their spouses, James Powers, Andrew and Marcia Shandor, Jr., all of Green Bay; Andrea Barrette, Little Suamico; Danny and Kathy Shandor, Steve Shandor, Patti and Al VandenPlas, all of Green Bay; nine grandchildren, James Powers, Jr., Katie Powers, Kristal Kelsey, Clifford and Stephanie Kelsey, Jr., Christopher Shandor, Kyle VandenPlas, Vinny VandenPlas, Joshua Barlow, Leah Soerens; four great-grandchildren, Tessa, Brandon, Evan, Calvin; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Mary Laundrie, Cathy (John) Calhoun; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Pat (Mary) Champeau, David Champeau, Jack (Sheila) Champeau; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew "Fiddlin Andy" Shandor; a son, Joseph; her parents; a brother, Jerry Champeau; and a son-in-law, Roger Barrette.
Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 12 noon to 4 p.m. Saturday. The Funeral Service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Deacon Bob Nooker officiating. Burial will be in Fort Howard Memorial Park.
Very special thanks from the family of Bette Shandor to the staff of San Luis Medical & Rehabilitation Center for their special care and compassion given to our mother. Also special thanks to Kathy Gail, her guardian angel on Earth.
