Notes
Birth
Age 4 in 1910Military
Enlisted February 1923. Died in service on 27 July 1946. The 1930 Census and Norbert and Edith's wedding certificate (1934) show that Norbert was a soldier at these times, but the evidence suggests that he was a civilian for some of the time between his marriage and his re-enlistment on 16 Feb 1939. The application for a military headstone shows both of these enlistment dates (1923 and 1939), and the webpage "Find the Data: World War II Army Enlistment" indicates that at the time of his enlistment on 16 Feb 1939, he had been living in Brown County, Wisconsin and working in the field of amusement, recreation, and motion pictures. This page also reports "Enlistment for the Philippine Department" -- which is rather chilling, considering what would happen to U. S. soldiers in the Philippines in a couple of years.http://interactive.ancestry.com/2375/40050_644066_0361-00003?backurl=http%3a%2f%2fsearch.ancestry.com%2fsearch%2fdb.aspx%3fdbid%3d2375%26path%3d&ssrc=&backlabel=ReturnBrowsing#?imageId=40050_644066_0361-00003
