Roy Mark (Jack) Raboin
Roy Mark (Jack) Raboin, 88, of Menominee, Mich., passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Unity Hospice Residence in DePere, Wis. He was born on August 1, 1922, in Daggett, Mich. to the late Edmend and Clara Raboin.
Jack graduated from Menominee High School class of 1941. He served in the United States Navy during World War II aboard the USS San Carlos stationed in the South Pacific. In 1945, he married his high school sweetheart, Millie (Babe) Pelnar. She preceded him in death in 2001. He spent most of his working career employed by American Can (now Menominee Paper), his last position being Paper Machine Scheduler. Both he and Babe were avid golfers and they loved to travel to new courses. After retirement, he discovered gardening and cooking. He enjoyed trips to the Casino and spending afternoons with his special group of friends at Dexters. His sense of humor brought smiles to many people. He was also an active member of the American Legion Post 146.
Jack is survived by two daughters: Jacqueline Clark of Burnsville, Minn. and Mary Raboin (John Neilio) of Menominee, Mich.; seven grandchildren including: Mike, Matt and David Clark of Burnsville, Minn., Christian Raboin of Arlington, Wash., Dominique Raboin of Eugene, Ore. and Maximilian and Mauricio Raboin of Geneva, Switzerland. He is further survived by one sister, Rainy (Bob) Hoffman of Pembine, Wis. and a brother-in-law, Bill (Gerry) Pelnar of Menominee, Mich. Along with his wife, Babe, Jack was preceded in death by his son, Michael Raboin.
Prayer services for Jack will be held at the Cadieu-Thielen Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at 7 p.m. with the American Legion Post #146 service at 6:45 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until the time of services. Deacon Steve Gretzinger officiating.
