The original parish baptismal record from the Drouin collection (Ancestry.com) states the Joachim was the legitimate son of Jean Baptiste Guilemet (no mother listed). The archival copy (Familysearch.org) originally stated the same thing, but at some point, "Jean Baptiste" was crossed out, and "Louis" written above. Presumably at the same time, someone wrote in the margin, "pere et mere Louis guilemet et Josete Bellemare." This was in the same handwriting as the other marginal notations. This "correction," however, cannot be correct. Louis Guilmet and Josete Bellemare had a child born to them just five months earlier (Marie Genevieve). On the other hand, Joachim fits nicely into the childbirth pattern of Jean Baptiste Guilmet and Marie Bastarache. Moreover, the marriage record of Joachim to Therese Bellemare gives his parents as Jean Baptiste Guillemet and the late Marie Bastarache.http://search.ancestry.com/Browse/view.aspx?dbid=1091&path=Y.Yamachiche.ALL.1722-1776.219&sid=&gskw=
