Obituary from the Waterloo Courier, Wednesday, June 12, 1991 page A6: Rev. Steven M. Harrington, 30, of St. Edward's parish, 1423 Kimball Ave., died at his home Monday, June 10. The cause of death was suicide, according to Black Hawk County Medical Examiner Dr. Albert Dolan. The Rev. Harrington was born Feb. 21, 1961, in Oelwein, son of Regis and Charlotte Walrath Harrington. In 1979 he graduated from West Side High School in Augusta, Ga. In 1983 he graduated from Loras College in Dubuque. He went on to attend Catholic University in Washington, D.C., and also Mount St. Mary's Seminary in Emmitsburg, Md., On May 30, 1987, he was ordained in Dubuque, and was assigned to St. Joseph's Parish in Bellevue as an assistant pastor for three years. He had been associate pastor at St. Edward's parish since July 1990. Survivors include his parents of Augusta; three brothers, Regis of Melbourne, Fla., and Dennis and Robert, both of Augusta; a sister, Patricia Davis of Augusta; paternal grandmother, Emma I. Harrington of Oelwein; and maternal grandparents, Wally and Helena Walrath of Oelwein; he was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Regis Harrington; and maternal grandmother Della Walrath. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Edward's Catholic Church. Receiving of the body will be at 4:30 p.m. today at the church, where there will be a 5:30 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. parish vigil. Visitation also from 3:30 a.m. until services Thursday at the church. A second service will be 12:15 p.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Augusta, with burial in Westover Cemetery, Augusta. A vigil will be at 7 p.m. at Poteet Funeral Home, Augusta. Oppold-Hagarty Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
