Funeral: 10 a.m. today at Edmond Fahey Funeral Home Chapel in Bay St. Louis.
BAY ST. LOUIS -- Hugh Carroll Sanford, 74, of Bay St. Louis, died Wednesday, September 30, 1998, in Bay St. Louis.
Mr. Sanford was a native of Mantee, Miss., and a resident of Bay St. Louis for 43 years. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy in World War II and a graduate of Mississippi State University. He was a service station owner and a member and Sunday School teacher of First Baptist Church in Bay St. Louis, Miss. He was Commander of DAV Chapter 50 and Junior Vice Commander of State of Miss. DAV. He was a member of American Legion (NU)139 in Bay St. Louis, Miss., and a member of Bay St. Louis Masonic Lodge (NU)0429. He was a member and Past Worthy Patron of Hope Chapter (NU)402 Order of the Eastern Star and Chaplain of the VFW (NU)6285 in Kiln, Miss.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Leland and Johnnie Pate Sanford; and one brother, Travis Bernard Sanford.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Nell Kirkpatrick Sanford of Bay St. Louis, Miss.; one son, Robert Hugh Sanford of Pensacola, Fla.; two daughters, Carol Ann Fullilove of Long Beach, Miss., and Rebecca Jo Martin of Gulfport, Miss.; one brother, Ralph L. Sanford of Mantee, Miss.; one sister, Joy O. Garner of Daphne, Ala.; also survived by seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, October 2, 1998, from 7 until 10 p.m. at the Edmond Fahey Funeral Home in Bay St. Louis, Miss. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, 1998, in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Bay St. Louis, Miss.
