Daily Mountain Eagle, Jasper, Alabama, Friday, September 1, 2000: Virgil Odis Kirkpatrick, 81, of Haleyville died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000 at his residence. Funeral services will be Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000 at Waldrop Freewill Baptist Church in Haleyville with burial in Littelville Cemetery. Bro. Hugh Cavender, Jeremy Roberts and Vancde Hutton will officiate. Pinkard Funeral Home of Haleyville will direct. He was a lifelong residence of the Haleyville area. He was a member of Waldrop Freewill Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for 20 years. He was a member of the fire department, honorary member of the Haleyville Jaycees, member of the Haleyville Masonic Lodge, where he recently received a 50 year pin. He was a member of the Winston County Republican Executive Committee. He worked for a number of years in the highway construction business and in the funeral home business for Nichols Funeral Home and Pinkard Funeral Home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Florence Kirkpatrick; a sister, Eunice Gore; and two brothers, Emmett and Arthur Kirkpatrick. He is survived by his wife, Letha Mae Martin Kirkpatrick; a daughter, Linda Kirkpatrick League; a sister, Rosa Ott; a brother, Millard Kirkpatrick; and three grandchildren, Kara League, Kirk League and wife, Jennifer and Krandel League and wife, Jessica.
