Funeral Services for RoSelle “Boots” Turner Rogers will be held Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at First Baptist Church, Meridian, Mississippi at 11:00 a.m., with Dr. Ramon Leake and Reverend David McCubbin officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Rogers passed away in her home on Saturday, January 5, 2013. She was born on January 28, 1919 in Shaw, MS to William Durden and RoSelle Kirkpatrick Turner. She graduated from Shaw High School as Salutatorian and attended Judson College in Marion, Alabama. She transferred to Ole Miss her Junior year and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. At Ole Miss she was a member of the Tri Delta Sorority. In 1941 she married Fred M. Rogers and they enjoyed a long and happy marriage until his death in 1996. She was an active member of First Baptist Church where she was a member of WMU and taught in the Children’s Sunday School Department for many years. She particularly loved the Lydia Sunday School Class which she attended as long as she possibly could. She was a Lifetime member of the Junior Auxiliary of Meridian, a 50-year member of the Pushmataha Chapter of the DAR, and member of the Colonial Dames of the 17th Century. She and her husband, Fred, enjoyed the love and fellowship of many close friends and they travelled extensively. Mrs. Rogers is survived by her children, Frederick M. Rogers, Jr. and his wife, Barbara of Meridian; Walter Turner Rogers and his wife, Ellen of Meridian; William Turner Rogers and his wife, Mary of Brandon; grandchildren, Rosemary Rogers Piedmont, Ann Rogers Scott, Walter Rogers, Jr., Kristin Rogers, Lee Rogers, Amanda Rogers, Kim Rogers Etheridge, Daniel Rogers, Caitlin Rogers Lawshe, and Wade Rogers; great-grandchildren, Hanna and Reagan Scott, Beckett Ethridge, Mary Margaret, Will and Ellen Claire Piedmont, and Turner, Grace, and Lillian Rogers. She is also survived by her close friend and faithful caregiver, Addie Ree Grace of Lauderdale, MS. In the last years of her life, Mrs. Rogers was also gently and tenderly cared for by Geraldine McDonald. The family also wishes to gratefully acknowledge the ministry of Hospice Compasseus which provided wonderful care for Boots and compassion and grace for all of the family as they faced this bittersweet time of loss, sadness, and joy. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Walter and Lee Rogers, Daniel and Wade Rogers, and great-grandson, Turner Rogers. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at robertbarhamffh.com.
