Times-Picayune, New Orleans, Louisiana, June 7, 1948, page 40: Boy Killed in 11 Floor Plunge is Identified. Abilene, Tex., June 6--The body of a 16 year-old youth who plunged to his death from the eleventh floor of the Wooten hotel Saturday, tonight was identified as that of John L. Kirkpatrick a Grant, Okla., high school junior. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Kirkpatrick parents of the youth, made the identification. The youth disappeared from his home last June 2, when his parents refused him permission to go to work.
