Benton Evening News, Benton, Illinois, Monday, April 19, 1999: Sesser-Violet B. Kirkpatrick, 81, died at 1:25 a.m. on Friday, April 16, 1999, in the Crossroads Hospital, Mount Vernon. Services will be held Tuesday, April 20, at 11 a.m. in the Brayfield-Gilbert Funeral Home, Sesser, with the Rev. James Boggs officiating. Burial will be in Horse Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday to the funeral home. Mrs. Kirkpatrick was born on April 7, 1918, in Rend City, the daughter of Nat and Lettie (Miller) Brown She was married on May 6, 1939, in Jackson, Mo. to William A. Kirkpatrick. He preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and of the Protestant faith. Survivors include two daughters, Donna Schuster (Dave) of Dahlgren, Diane Wingo (Mike) of Sesser; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two brothers, Delbert Brown of Sesser and LeRoy Brown of Scotts Bluff, Neb.; one sister, Ruby Spann; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and one sister.
