Posted at findagrave.com: Richard Alvin White, 72, of Johnston City, passed away 8:39 a.m., Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at his sister's residence in Marion. Richard was born September 12, 1939 in Herrin to Rev. Amon Alvin and Edith Elizabeth (Kirkpatrick) White. He married Jacqueline Mae Foster on November 24, 1956 in Johnston City. Richard and Jackie shared 52 years of marriage together before she preceded him in death on September 9, 2008. Richard was retired, having been a roofer for many years in San Francisco. He was a member of the Roofers and Waterproofers, Local 40 in San Francisco from 1956-2012. After retiring back to Johnston City he helped maintain the parks in town for several years. Richard and Jackie were avid sports fans and would give generously to the local schools and the city's youth sports programs. He enjoyed playing golf and going out to eat. Richard is survived by two sons, Jerry White and wife Nancy of Petaluma, CA, James White and wife Lisa of Rocklin, CA; five grandchildren, Larry and Patricia White of Johnston City, Garrett, Jackson and Ian White of Rocklin, CA; three great grandchildren, Kaden, Tristan and Scarlet Corey of Johnston City; four sisters, Daveline Easterly and husband Norm of Grand Coulee, WA, Barbara Davis of Marion, Esther Andrade and husband Carlos of Olympia, WA, Scheerie Rovai and Mike of Salida, CA; two brothers, John White of Marion and David White of Carterville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Dena Pardue, Bonnie Lowe, Elaine White; two brothers, Jackson and Gary White. Private family services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 27, 2012 in Herrin City Cemetery with Rev. Bobby Parker officiating. Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City is entrusted with the arrangements.
