The Times-Tribune, Corbin, Kentucky, Monday, December 17, 2012: Thomas J. Hays Jr., of Williamsburg, departed this life on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at his home. He was 89 years, 4 months, and 1 day of age. He was born on Aug. 15, 1923, in Jackson County to the late Thomas J. Hays Sr. and Nannie Ramsey Hays. He is also preceded in death by his brothers, Richard Hays, George Hays, and Don Hays; sisters, Verna Strong, Beatrice McElroy*; and nephew, George “Bud” Hays. He was a veteran having served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Grayhawk Baptist Church in Jackson County. He is survived by his wife, Ola Hays, of Williamsburg; his son, Greg Hays and wife Darlene, of Williamsburg; nieces, Nannie Hays, Lucille Broyles, Irene Irvin, Christina Hays, and Brenda Broyles; nephews, Dr. Tom Hays, J.E. Hays, Tommy Hays, Kevin Hays, and Bill Strong and wife Effie. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until the funeral hour on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doyle Lester and Rev. Roger Hall officiating. Following an 11 a.m. graveside service on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, Mr. Hays will be laid to rest in the Davis Addition of the Highland Park Cemetery.
