Robert John Kirkpatrick was the third child of Arthur Wilmot and Florence D. (Blackburn) Kirkpatrick. He was born 26 October 1897 in Maryville, Nodaway County, Missouri. He died 7 June 1981 at Bozeman, Gallatin County, Montana, and is buried at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery, McPherson, McPherson County, Kansas. He was married in Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas, 12 August 1920 to Bessie Beulah Maddox. Bessie was born 12 October 1902 at Alva, Woods County, Oklahoma, and died in Kansas on 29 November 1979. She was the daughter of Samuel Otis and Flora (Shaw) Maddox. Robert was a thermostat fitter in the construction business.
