Davis Enterprise, Davis, California, April 10, 2009 David D. Musil, March 18, 1934 - April 7, 2009. Dave was born in Holdrege, Neb., on March 18, 1934. Called home by his Lord at the Mercy Medical Center in Merced, Calif., on April 7, 2009, he died at the age of 75 from a massive heart attack while suffering from Alzheimer's disease. He and his wife Joan of 53 years resided in Atwater, Calif., for the past 30 years. He is survived by his wife; his daughter Debbi (Mitch) Allerton of Puyallup, Wash.; his son Terry Musil of San Diego; grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister Leona (Carroll) Falk of Holdrege, Neb.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Barbara Jo MacGregor; his brothers, Roy, John and Kenny; and his sister Iris. He graduated from Holdrege High School in 1952, and from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1971. Being in the military, Dave and his family lived in many places including Houston; Sacramento/Davis; Yakota Air Force Base in Japan; Charleston, S.C.; and Cheyenne, Wyo. A retired Major in the U.S. Air Force, he honored his country in the Vietnam War. He retired out of Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield and resided in Davis for eight years. Dave served the Lord faithfully his entire life. He was tirelessly committed to the First Baptist Church of Atwater in many capacities. He was also active in The Gideons International distributing bibles. Handy with his hands and always willing to give to others, he had a servant's heart and gave to anyone who asked. He always saw the best in everyone. His wonderful sense of humor kept him laughing and cheerful even to his last breath. He was a farmer at heart, growing gardens and tending the trees he loved. He was a kind, humble and gentle man. Friends and family are invited to attend the memorial service at 11 a.m. Monday, April 13, at First Baptist Church, 1683 Fifth St., Atwater, Calif. A light lunch will follow in Musil Hall. The family will attend a private military internment on Tuesday. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitton Family Funeral Service in Merced, at (209) 384-1119.
