Joplin Globe, Joplin, Missouri, Thursday, January 3, 1980, Page 22, Col. 6: Carl L. Sluder, 80, 2121 Virginia Ave., died at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at his home after a two-year illness. Mr. Sluder was born May 3, 1899, in Mullinville, Kan. he had lived in Joplin since 1941. He was a retired Postal Service employee. He was a member of the Apostolic Church. He was also a member of the National Retired Federal Employees. He married Ida Alexander on June 3, 1933, in Cassville. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Mary Higley, Joplin, and Miss Robert[a] Sluder, of the home; six sons, Jack Sluder, Fayetteville, Ark., John Sluder, Frisco City, Ala., Leon Sluder, Quenemo, Kan., Leonard Sluder, Mayfield, Ky., Birchie Sluder, Tulsa, Okla., and Robert Sluder, 202 N. Adams Ave.; a brother, Leland Sluder, Grand Junction, Colo.; a sister, Mrs. Bernice Buger, Galena, Kan., and 20 grandchildren. Services will be announced by Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary.
