Nancy Johnston
(23 Apr 1805 - 12 Jun 1856)
Posted at findagrave.com: In Orange county, N.C., on the 12th inst., after a lingering illness, Mrs. Nancy Kirkpatrick, consort of Hugh Kirkpatrick, in the 51st year of her age. She was a devoted and dutiful wife, a fond and affectionate mother, a kind and obliging neighbor; and for her many excellent qualities she was beloved and esteemed by all who knew her. Dying, she has left a bereaved husband and four motherless children, besides numerous relatives and friends, to mourn their irrecoverable loss. May they and I so follow in her footsteps, so pursue the paths of piety and usefulness, that when we come to the confines of the house appointed for all the living, we may likewise be prepared to quit this mortal state with a bright and glorious prospect of passing safely through the valley and shadow of death, to the possession of that "home not made with hands eternal in the heavens, where the wicked cease from trouble and the weary be forever at rest".
