Amarillo Globe-News, Amarillo, Texas. April 27, 2008: San Marcos---Jane Everline Aycock, 81, formerly of Amarillo, died Thursday, April 24, 2008. Graveside services were at 3 p.m. Saturday in San Marcos Cemetery with the Rev. Roger Hagen officiating. Arrangements were by Pennington Funeral Home. Jane was born April 22, 1927, in Slaton to George and Nell Everline. She grew up in Amarillo and was valedictorian for the Amarillo High School Class of 1944. In 1948, Jane graduated with high honors from Texas Tech University and received a degree in English literature. Jane was married to Bill W. Aycock on Aug. 31, 1947. Jane was an active member of the Jamestown Society and various genealogical groups. She was the author of four genealogical books. Her favorite pastimes included genealogy, gardening, bird watching and her grandsons.Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Bill Aycock; two sisters, Nancy Bassett of Marble Falls and Ann Payne of Oklahoma City; two sons, Dr. Mark W. Aycock of Houston and Dr. Steven M. Aycock of San Marcos, and their respective wives, Judy and Gina. The loves of Jane's life were her two grandsons, Will and Darden. The family suggests memorials be to Central Texas Medical Center Hospice Care, 1315 N. Interstate 35, San Marcos, TX 78666.
