William Clarence Morehouse

(5 Nov 1921 - 26 Aug 1971)

Service in World War II: Private Company C, 715th Railway Operating Battalion served in North Africa and Italy. He enlisted in 1942 and discharged in 1945.

He worked for Illinois Central Railroad in Iowa and Union Pacific Railroad in Utah and California. He was an independent trucker prior to his death. Death was due to a blood clot from a fall. He died at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Long Beach, California.

Obituary: Morehouse, William Clarence, 49 of 13310 Lambert Road, Whittier, died Thursday in Long beach Veterans Hospital. Born in Iowa, Mr. Morehouse was a resident of this area for 12 years. He served in the U. S. Army during World War Two. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Memorial Chapel Rose Hills, with the Rev. Sherwood Eddy officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hills Memorial Park. Arrangements were directed by Rose Hills Mortuary. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; a son, Richard Morehouse; daughters Sherilyn Sasser, Marjorie Stivers and Tricia Morehouse; his mother, Genevieve Lenius; a brother Roy S. Morehouse; sisters, Jane Linhart and Faye Medhaug; his grandmother, Mrs. Clara D. Smith; and an aunt, Miss May B. Smith.
