Leland, 64, of Kinder, who died Sunday afternoon in the Allen Parish Hospital following a brief illness. The Rev. Bill Mathews will officiate at the funeral, to be held from the First United Methodist Church, with burial following in the Kinder Cemetery with Masonic services and Ardoin Funeral Home in charge of burial arrangements. A retired civil engineer for the state, Leland had lived in Kinder for 50 years. He served as Mayor of Kinder from 1954-58, and was a member of the Kinder Lodge, 291, F. & A.M., Lake Charles Scottish Rite Bodies, Shriners, El Karubah Temple in Shreveport. Survivors include is widow; one daughter, Mrs. Dianne Haney of Kinder; one sister, Miss Donna Leland of Beaumont, Tex., and one grandson. The family has requested that memorials be made in the form of contributions to the Methodist building fund.
