Elizabeth "Bessie" Fern Brisco

Elizabeth Brisco died of typhoid fever Nov. 29, 1916. School teacher. Buried next to mother at Oak Hill Cemetery, Nashua, Iowa, per page 108 of Abigail Ferris & James Clason, Their Ancestry and Descendents, by Fay Morehouse Medhaug, April, 1987. Page 96 states she died in Waterloo, Iowa.

Her sister, Clara Daisy called her Bessie and kept a picture of her in a frame on the wall of her bedroom in her home at 25 W. Home St., Long Beach, California. As a child, Carol Shepherd, her granddaughter, always knew Bessie was close to her grandmother's heart.

Obituary of Elizabeth Fern Brisco
Elizabeth Fern Brisco, age 22, died last night at St. Francis hospital of typhoid fever, after an illness of eight weeks. She was born in Nashua and graduated from Waverly High school in 1914. She was engaged as a teacher in the schools near Raymond prior to her last illness. Miss Brisco made her home with her sister Mrs. W. A. Smith, 312 Charles Street. Surviving relatives are two brothers and three sister: Ben Brisco, city; Clyde Brisco, Duluth, Minn.; Mrs. Grace Aldrich and Mrs. Smith both of Waterloo; and Mrs. Melvin Jones, Plainfield. The body was removed to O'Keefe and Towne parlors pending funeral arrangements. Services will be conducted probably Friday.
