Modesto Bee & Herald-News, Modesto, California, January 1, 1949, Page 8, Col. 2: Adkins Funeral Will Be Held On Monday. Funeral services for Mrs. Julia Adkins, whose husband is charged with heating her fatally Thanksgiving Day, will be held Monday at 2 PM in the Salas Brothers-Moore Funeral Chapel. Dr. George F. Kettner of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, will officiate. Interment, will be in the Modesto Cemetery. Mrs. Adkins died in the Stanislaus County Hospital several days after the beating, which took place in the family's cabin near Firebaugh. Her husband, Vern Adkins, has been charged with murder.
