Joseph Washington Brewer

The Prospect-News, Doniphan, Missouri, July 6, 1944, Front Page, Col. 5: Joseph W. Brewer Dies In Hospital Here. Joseph W. Brewer, 72 years of age, died at midnight on the night of July 4, at the hospital in Doniphan where he had been a patient twelve days suffering with euremia. The body was removed to Thayer yesterday and funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Harry Beatty at Walnut Grove where burial will be made. Mr. Brewer was born March 2, 1872 near Myrtle and has lived in that community all his life. He was married July 30, 1891 to Nora Kirkpatrick and twelve children were born to them. Four children died in infancy, and his wife preceded him in death several years ago. Six years ago Mr. Brewer married Mrs. Jennie Adams who survives him. He leaves five sons and three daughters, fifteen grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. His surviving sons and daughters are: Mrs. O. W. Bennett of Myrtle; Frank of Couch; Earl, and Ruby Brewer and Mrs. W. H. Roberts, of St. Louis; Norman of Cabool; David of Thayer, and Clifton of Mt. Vernon. Mr. Brewer became a Christian early in life and was a member of the Baptist Church at Walnut Grove.
