Plain Dealer, Cleveland, Ohio, Wednesday, April 5, 1961, Page 31, Cols. 6 & 7: James R. Miller, member of a family prominent in the shipbuilding field here, died Monday in Lutheran Hospital. He was a son of the late William James Miller. His father was a partner in the old shipbuilding firm here of Murphy & Miller. The shipyard was situated on old Whiskey Island on the lake front. It built many wooden ships; also it was credited with the first steel lake ship--the J. K. White.
James Miller had been for many years a manufactuerer's agent, specializing in Delco products. Surviving him are his wife, the Former, Delia Kirkpatrick, and a sister in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The family home is at 1794 W. 50th Street. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Saxton funeral home, 13215 Detroit Avenue, Lakewood.
