William O. "Bill" Hodges

Posted at findagrave.com: BOWIE - William O. (Bill) Hodges, 87, passed away Friday, Nov. 30, 2007 in Bowie. Bill was born April 14, 1920 in Wichita County, Texas to William L. and Mattie O. (Goodlett) Hodges. He grew up in Valley View and lived most of his life in Clay and Montague Counties. He spent his life ranching and served his country in the United States Navy. He was an avid golfer who loved to golf with his sons and grandsons. He donated land and helped build the Top O' Lake Country Club and was a member and former president of the Board of Directors in 1966. Bill was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Methodist Foundation. He was a past school board member for the Bellevue ISD. He loved his family and was a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Bill is preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Hodges; wife, Loujean Hodges; son, Chris Hodges; two brothers; and two sisters. He is survived by his son, Bill Hodges and wife, Ginger of Castle Rock, Colorado; daughter-in-law, Nora Hodges of Bellevue; step-daughters, Deborah Silvi of Houston and Katherine Knowles of Forney; grandchildren, Matt, Lyssa, Ryann, Barrett, and Colin; great-grandchildren, Aidan and Noah; brother, Jerry Hodges of Iowa Park; sister, Mary Louise of Aida, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers: Charles Tyson, Billy Tyson, Tom Flinn, Ed McCormick, Gowin Davis, Wayne Ressell. Honorary Pallbearers: Harry Flinn, Marvin Tyson, Robert Lee Martin, Gene Patterson, Bobby Hatfield. Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Bellevue United Methodist Church with Dr. Lewis Ray Sleeth officiating.Burial will follow at Bellevue Cemetery.Arrangements entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home of Bowie.
