Posted at findagrave.com: Knox Hirons, 83, of Waltonville died 10:40 p.m. Aug. 25, 2004, at Mt. Vernon Care Center in Mt. Vernon. He was a lifetime farmer. Mr. Hirons was born Sept. 9, 1920, in Jefferson County to McConnell and Ruth (Knox) Hirons. He married Dorothy (Wells) Hirons July 29, 1951, in Mt. Vernon; she died March 17, 2001. Mr. Hirons is survived by a son, Charles K. Hirons of Waltonville; a daughter, Nancy Hirons of Grand Bay, Ala.; and a sister, Marlene Hart of Grand Bay, Ala.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and two sisters, Alene Hirons and Geraldine Ray Hirons. Mr. Hirons was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9153 of Waltonville, AMVETS Post 148 of Waltonville and was a master mason for 50 years with Grand Lodge AF & AM 918 in Sesser.
