Ormond Kirkpatrick

Funeral services for Ormond Kirkpatrick, of Huston, 63-year-old motel owner who was killed there Wednesday morning in a car-truck accident, were held there Friday at 2:30 p.m. Burial was in a Houston cemetery.
Mr. Kirkpatrick was a step-father to Mrs. Charles Koenig, Jr. of Curero. She left immediately for Houston after receiving the message of his death. Mr. Koenig went Friday to attend the rites.
Mr. Kirkpatrick who lived at 6629 Sandstone, was the owner of the Poolside Motel, 13900 South Main.
He was killed instantly when his station wagon was crushed by a truck carrying an estimated 20,000 pounds of brick. The accident occurred at South Post Oak and S. Main at 10:30 a.m. Driver of the truck , Willie Herbert, Jr., told officers he ran a red light because his brakes wouldn't hold. Herbert was charged with negligent homicide in Justice of the Peace W. C. Reagan's court in Houston.
It appeared that Mr. Kirkpatrick was thrown from his station wagon at the point of impact. The truck pushed the car 41 feet west on S. Main before running over the top of it and continuing another 200 feet, coming to rest in a ditch on the northside of the street.
The right front door of the automobile was fastened to the grill of the truck by he impact. The accident tied up traffic at the busy intersection for more than an hour.
In addition to his widow, Mr. Kirkpatrick is survived by another daughter who lives in Houston.
