Victoria Maughs was the third child of Daniel Merrill and Margaret D. (Kirkpatrick) Maughs and was born 22 February 1848 at Burlington, Iowa, and died 21 January 1940 at Sedan, Kansas. She married Nathaniel Harrison Kendrick, the son of William and Evaline (Laughlin) Kendrick. Kendrick was born 28 February 1842 at Macomb, Illinois, and died 23 September 1929 at Sedan. The couple was married 14 August 1866. Kendrick had been a soldier in the 16th Illinois Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War.

The Kendrick's lived in Iowa, moved to Quincy, Illinois then to Missouri. They also lived at Macomb, Illinois, where there were Kirkpatrick cousins. Still later on they removed to Eureka, Kansas. All three of their daughters established themselves at Sedan, Kansas, which seems to explain the final move to that community.

There were three (3) children born of the marriage.
