Morris Thaine White

Posted at findagrave.com: Morris Thaine White was born near Ulysses, Nebraska on August 21, 1919 to James and Julia (Howe) White and passed away on February 19, 2013 in Lexington, Nebraska at the age of 93 years, 5 months and 29 days. Morris attended Rural District #74 near Ulysses and Seward High School for one year and then graduated from Ulysses High School.
Morris was a World War II Veteran and served in the Pacific area in the U.S. Army Air Corp on the Island of Guam until the war ended. His time in the service amounted to four years. (He recently participated in the Heartland Honor Flight to Washington D.C.) Soon after military service Morris attended the Agriculture University Courses sponsored by the University of Nebraska which were held in the Ulysses High School Building. Morris was engaged in the farming business with his family and later had his own farming business for a total of some seventy years. On January 17, 1942, he married Anita Cordes. They were the parents of three children, Donald, Carol Jean and Keith. Morris joined the United Methodist Church Ulysses and was baptized when he was a child. He remained in that church and served in various offices. Later he became a member of the Seward United Methodist Church. Morris was a volunteer fireman for many years and a School Board member both in Ulysses. Morris serviced as a Butler County Commissioner and as Chairman. He was a member of the Upper Big Blue Natural Resources District for seventeen years and served as Chairman for part of that time. He was honored as a "life-time" member of the Groundwater Management Districts Association. Morris was an active member of the Dwight American Legion Post #110 and a life member of the V.F.W. #4755 in Seward.
Morris is preceded in death by his parents, James and Julia; his wife, Anita White; son, Donald White; daughter-in-law, Shirl Roberts White, two older brothers, Burton and Howard.
Morris is survived by his daughter-in-law, Judy White of Seward, daughter, Carol Jean and husband Dick Helvey of Lexington, son, Keith White of Indian Head Park, IL, three grandchildren, Dori Anne and Travis Moomey of Kearney, Jason and Sarah Helvey of Omaha, and Carmen and Steven Pleskac of Fremont; ten great grandchildren, Hallett Moomey, Phillip Moomey, Jillian Moomey, Camille Moomey, Marigold Helvey, Marley Helvey, Wesley Pleskac, Lucia Pleskac, Jaxon Pleskac and Derek Pleskac; sister, Grace Hoeft of David City; nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
